19. My SGI version of HyperChem Release 2.0 cannot find a valid license.

One of two events may cause your run time license to become invalidated.

The first is that your SGI was assigned a new I.P. network address. The second cause of an invalid license is the expiration of the license itself. To extend or re-acquire a license for your SGI Release 2.0, you must consult your installation guide and proceed to the section which deals with the activation of the license manager.

The server code is a 10 character ascii code and can be obtained by running:

% hyperchem_elmadmin -c
Elan License Manager - Copyright 1989-1992 Elan Computer Group, Inc.

On how many hosts will you run the license server? (default=1):
Code for server yoyo is: k39.sd+323
Please enter your key:

The server code in the above example would be k39.sd+323.

Your server code must be sent to us via E-mail or fax with proof of purchase of the HyperChem software (i.e., copy of the purchase order and serial number).

The SGI Release 2.0 program will not run on Irix 5.x operating systems. When we put out the SGI back-ends, we had to produce different versions for the 4.0.5F and 5.2 operating systems, since they are neither upwards nor downwards compatible. At the moment, people who want to use HyperChem under the newer operating systems would have to use the back-end modules, which do the heavy number-crunching for a networked PC front end, or upgrade to HyperChem 4.5 for SGI.
