25. HyperChem Lite gives "ChemCDROM environment in your WIN.INI is not a CDROM device".

The standard installation for HyperChem Lite (Release 1.01) appears not to add necessary configuration lines to the WIN.INI file when it is installed for Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups 3.11. WIN.INI should be located in your \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. The simplest solution is probably for you to edit the file manually, in a text editor such as the Windows Notepad. At the end of the file, add the following lines:

[ChemLite]
ChemIniPath=C:\chemlite
ChemExePath=C:\chemlite
ChemParmPath=C:\chemlite
ChemCDROM=D:\

Each of the three "path" settings should show the directory on your hard drive that you installed HyperChem Lite into. The ChemCDROM setting should show your local CD drive letter. This set of five lines should be separated by a single blank line from other lines preceding or following it in WIN.INI .
