Network,
Hardware-locked Version
The Hardware-locked version required that a physical device (dongle) be attached to the parallel port of the license server. Driver software provided with HyperChem then reads the information from the hardware lock and issues the appropriate licenses.
When installing, choose the Network option (rather than Standalone) and the Hardware Lock option (rather than Software Lock). With the lock in place, HyperChem runs immediately upon installation.
This method of licensing does not require Hypercube be contacted to generate a license code. Also, the license is not sensitive to changes in computer hardware or system configuration.
The disadvantage to the hardware-locked version of HyperChem is that the hardware lock can be lost or stolen. The lock in effect is the license to HyperChem. If there is any reason to be concerned for security of the lock, a software lock version would be a better choice.
Also, the hardware-locked licensing mechanism is not reliable when routers and switches are between the server and the client machines. If the network uses network equipment that filters or blocks certain types of communication or employs complex topologies, then the software-locked version of HyperChem may provide a better solution.
Hypercube will provide a replacement lock for a damaged lock if the lock is returned, for a replacement fee of $100.00. Also, if stolen, we will also provide a replacement lock for the replacement fee if a copy of the police report of the theft is provided.
